Andrea Fisher is one of today’s top US long course professional triathletes. She has finished over ten times in the top five at various international Ironman races throughout the world, including a second place at Ironman Florida. She was the fastest Ironman rookie in her Ironman debut at the 1997 Hawaii World Championship, with a 13th place finish overall.
Among her many multisport wins, she was the fastest female triathlete in North America for the half Ironman distance in 2000, with a time of 4 hr 19 min. She is also well known throughout the sport as one of the top swimmers, typically leading out of the water at all her races, and a powerhouse on the bike. In 2004 she set two new Ironman swim course records; adding to her resume of four total, led out of the water at her races, and posted one of the top bike splits at all of her events. In June she smashed the course record at the Half Max Half Ironman and posted a sub 4 hr 30 min time on one of the most difficult half Ironman courses.
A perennial top Ironman finisher, Andrea will focus her 2005 season towards long course racing and a return to Kona, Hawaii in search of a top ten World Championship finish.
In addition to her professional athletic career Andrea is the co-owner of Texas Iron Multisport Training where she and her husband, professional triathlete and Ironman Champion Jamie Cleveland, coach hundreds of multisport athletes. Andrea is also a published writer, with regular articles appearing on www.xtri.com and Triathlete Magazine. In her spare time she gives back to the community by volunteering for various events and outreach programs that help raise awareness of a healthy lifestyle.
Andrea grew up in Winston Salem and was a member of the Grandview Swim Team, the Old Town Otters Swim Club, and the Winston Salem YMCA Swim Team. Her mother and sister, Elaine and Lori Fisher, and niece, Rebecca Mise, still live in Winston Salem. Andrea and her husband Jamie frequently visit their family in Winston and love the opportunity to train in the area.
